Emerging Leaders

The ACES Executive Council and Conference Planning Committee is pleased to announce the Call for Nominations for the ACES 2009 Emerging Leaders Fellowship Program, to be held on October 14, from 1 to 5 pm, at the ACES national convention in San Diego, CA. Drs. Don Locke and Pam Paisley, who have both been extraordinary leaders in ACES and the counseling profession, will conduct the workshop. The Emerging Leaders workshop is designed to, 1) help students discover how leadership can enhance their own professional development, 2) enhance the diversity and vitality of ACES leadership, and 3) provide an overview of ACES leadership opportunities. In addition, the presenters will introduce participants to current ACES leadership and help connect these talented and dedicated fellows with opportunities within ACES .

This year, six emerging leaders from each ACES Region are selected by the Regional ACES president for the Emerging Leaders Fellowship. These participants will receive a stipend of $200 for attendance at the workshop and conference. Regional ACES presidents will determine a selection criteria which considers the nominees’ commitment to the profession of Counselor Education and Supervision, their leadership experience and potential, and their participation in state, regional, and/or national ACES organizations and conferences. Preference should be given to students, and at least two emerging leaders from each region should enhance diversity, with particular attention to racial/ethnic diversity. If you are interested in being nominated for a fellowship within your region, or if you would like to nominate a fellow, please provide your Regional ACES president with a letter of nomination, highlighting the criteria noted above, and the nominee's curriculum vita, by July 15, 2009.

ACES would like to recognize NBCC for their generous support of the Emerging Leaders Fellowship Program. We are extraordinarily grateful for their financial support and NBCC's investment in the future of the counseling profession.
