October Webinar: Creative, Supportive, and Evaluative Techniques for Online Supervision

Description: This workshop applied the framework of traditional counseling supervision models as teaching tools in providing instruction and feedback in online supervision platforms. The presenters actively demonstrated their student-centered, creative, supportive, and evaluative approaches to supervision in an online environment which can translate to using with clients during telemental health sessions. This session included participation opportunities in an interactive online platform.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Identify opportunities/strategies and demonstrating use of key supervision models during online group supervision
  2. Describe the supervision focus areas (intervention, conceptualization, personalization) as they relate to online supervision (and teaching) along with associated strategies.
  3. Understand how to implement student-centered, creative, supportive, and evaluative approaches in online supervision platforms along with applicability of the approaches for tele-mental health


Dr. Nicole Arcuri Sanders is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Approved Counselor Supervisor, National Certified Counselor and is Board Certified in Tele-mental Health. She hasworked as a counselor educator and supervisor for the past six years.  She has a prolific record of scholarship in the areas of supervision, military counseling, and multicultural counseling with a unique focus on research concerning the unique needs of supervisees. The presenter has done course development for online practicum and internship courses as well as published and presented on the topic of distance clinical supervision.

 Dr. Theresa Kascsak is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor-Supervisor, a National Certified Counselor, a Registered-Play   Therapist-Supervisor and Licensed School Counselor in North Carolina. She has eighteen plus years of experience working in a variety   of mental health settings, such as schools, non-profit agencies, community mental health centers, private practice, utilization   management and higher education. She has numerous peer-reviewed presentations, publications, and grants on topics including   supervision, multiculturalism, play therapy, school counseling, parenting, group counseling and co-occurring disorders.
